“A Passion for Color” with painting by Susan Lewis Abrahamson
Born in Richmond, Virginia, her first art effort, at age three, a red crayon drawing on the living room wall, was not a success.Her career improved in college with instruction under two noted artists, Franz Bernheimer and later, John De Rocco.In Paris, she continued her understanding ofartistic principle at the Louvre.More recently, she has studied the technique and style of well known New England artist, Edward Betts, whose books and teachings (Master Class in Watercolor and Master Class in Acrylic) have been guides for many painters.
She has exhibited in Washington, D.C. through the Millicent Chatel Gallery and in Lord and Taylor’s art and design department.In Maryland, she entered several juried shows and had numerous one man shows.
She has taught acrylic painting for thirty years, in her own studio, at HoltonArmsSchool in Bethesda, Maryland, in her own studio in Keedysville, Maryland, and at the LongboatKeyArtCenter, Longboat Key, Florida.
Her paintings are in private collections throughout the country.Her most recent exhibits and demonstrations have been on Longboat Key and last year at MountainLake in LakeWales, Florida.
