CURRENT  ATTRACTIONS at the Lake Wales Arts Center:

DUO       February 2 - March 12, 2006  in the Michael Crews Gallery

Artist's Reception open to the public February 2 from 5 - 7 p.m.

Duo features the work of two amazing artists Olivia Parker and Leslie Neumann. Olivia Parker says "Traditional still life in a contemporary form dominates my work, but my interest in toys and games, the history of science, and the edge between the man-made and natural world creep in as well." Her photography of everyday items arranged in her created constructions is fascinating.

In contrast, Leslie Neumann's paintings are inspired by the rhythm of energy as it travels, transforms, becomes visible, and shifts shapes. Her encaustic oil painting technique results in amazing luminosity in her work.

And in Updike Hall:

Proteus Ensemble made its sold-out New York debut during the 200-01 season at Carnegie Hall as winners of an Artists International Award. Two weeks before their concert in Lake Wales the Proteus Ensemble will make its Lincoln Center debut on the "Great Performers" series. Sponsored by Fields Huston Cadillac, Buick, Pontiac, GMC
