Ensemble Galilei
Saturday, February 23, 2002
8 p.m.
Not your ordinary ensemble, these musicians play a variety of instruments including the Celtic Harp, the fiddle, oboe, recorder, pennywhistle, Viola da Gamba, and house bagpipes. There is no other group whose repertoire ranges from Irish jigs and Scottish reels to court music of medieval Spain to its own original compositions. The Washington Post said "Virtuoso technique, an instinctive feeling for the idiom.. they play with energy, splendid ensemble, good humor and imagination."
